After equipment installation, a Las Vegas grower successfully pursued rebates
A grower in Las Vegas recently upgraded 192 HPS fixtures to Sun System 1850 LEDs. In the mist of their facility revamp, rebates were discussed but not pursued until after the purchase was complete. Normally, this would have disqualified any grower from commercial rebates, which require pre-approval. However, the equipment distributor encouraged the grower to talk to Seinergy and they decided to give it a go.
Seinergy contacted the grower’s electric utility, NV Energy, about this project in mid-November. Luckily, NV Energy happened to be at the end of a fiscal year with some efficiency budget remaining. Seinergy helped demonstrate the grower’s intent to pursue rebates all along. Thus, NV Energy asked us to bring the project forward.
At the end of January, the rebate came back 40% larger than anticipated. This was due to HVAC savings and other Year-End bonuses. The project represented 236,989 in kWh saved.
In addition to the rebates, this grower will save $34,774 each year in electric bills and bulb replacement costs compared to their old equipment. Although this job is smaller than other projects we work with, the impacts may be even more meaningful.
“As a smaller facility, anything really helps”, said the grower who is enjoying upgraded fixtures, lower bills, and a sizable check from NV Energy.
