2026 Demand Response Program for Indoor Growers

Indoor growers can earn thousands by enrolling in Energy Bridge’s updated Demand Response (DR) program. There’s no cost to join, no penalty for not-participating, and payments are made for actual reductions only. Perfect for commercial growers with high lighting loads.

How to Reduce Loads

  • HVAC setback – reduce cooling by 2-5 degrees for a few hours
  • Grow Lights – dim them 50-80%. The lost DLI for a 4 hour period is negligible
  • Pause other loads – water treatment, ovens, extraction, extra lighting, coffee pot

Eligibility

  • Facilities with at least 100kW of Curtailable Load (~100 HPS horticultural fixtures or equivalent) 
  • Utility: PG&E. SCE. LADWP, SDG&E.  Outside of CA – just ask us!

How It Works

  • Utility sends day-ahead or same-day text message
  • Events last 3–5 hours, usually between 4–9 PM
  • You decide whether to curtail or not
  • Energy reduction is measured automatically from your electric meter

Example Payout

  • In 2024, Senergy’s growers got paid on average $9,542 for enrolling. Over $130,000 for LA growers alone – more than 5% of the program’s impacts!
  • A grower with 250 HID fixtures could earn $10,000/year for dimming fixtures 50% during a few short events. Larger facilities can earn $100K+ annually.
